Every design here starts on paper centuries older than the shirt. We pull illustrations, mottos, and marginalia straight from the antiquarian books that pass through our hands: a 1728 Bibliothèque bleue chapbook, a 1574 Bolognese emblem book, whatever turns up next.

These are small runs, made to order, drawn from real books we've catalogued, sold, or kept for ourselves. If you'd rather read the source material than wear it, you'll usually find it in the shop too.
