Rondelet 1554 Sea Fishes Swim Trunks
What is this about
In 1554 the Montpellier physician Guillaume Rondelet published the first serious book of sea creatures: 439 woodcuts of fishes, sharks, turtles and whales, drawn from specimens examined on the quaysides of Marseille and Venice — and, where observation ran out, a sea monster or two taken on good authority.
His shoal now swims on a pair of trunks, printed edge to edge so the fishes wrap the whole garment. Renaissance ichthyology, worn back into the water it came from.
All-over print on quick-drying recycled polyester (91% rPET, 9% spandex), four-way stretch and water-repellent, UPF 50+, anti-chafe mesh liner, mesh pockets and a small inside pocket for valuables, elastic waistband with drawcord. Printed, cut and hand-sewn to order.
